Marching Colonel for a Day - 2026

EKU's Marching Colonel for a Day program provides high school students the opportunity to perform with the Marching Colonels at Roy Kidd Stadium during a home football game. This event is open to all high school marching band members. 

Here is what you can expect to happen during the day: 
9:00-9:30- Check-in, Sectional welcome
9:30 - Welcome meeting (MC's on the field)
9:45 - Begin setting halftime block (perc and guard to sectionals)
10:15 - Sectionals Rehearsal with MCs
10:30 - Winds Group rehearsal
10:45 - Full Ensemble Halftime Rehearsal
11:15 - Wrap-up Announcements
11:30 - Walk to Tailgate
12:00 - Tailgate food with the Marching Colonels
11:45 - Colonel Walk (tuba tunnel)
1:00 - Tailgate Performance: Pregame, Hey Baby, Halftime
1:30 - Arrive at Roy Kidd & move into stands
1:45 - MC's Pregame
2:05 - Kickoff
3:15 - Approximate Halftime
5:30 - Approximate end of the game 

I excited to announce our partnership with Beam to provide you with music right on your phone! You will be given an EKU Bands pop Socket to use that can be slid into a traditional lyre. Please bring your own lyre! Guard, Twirlers and Dancers, you videos are linked below. You do not need Beam. :-)

Brass and woodwinds should bring your school band uniform, instrument, music, lyre, and flip folder to hold your music.

Percussionists should bring their school band uniform, instrument, and sticks. *Note: We do not use pit percussion. If you are a pit percussionist, please bring a marching percussion instrument.

Color Guard members should bring their uniforms, flags, and poles.

Twirlers should bring their uniform and any necessary equipment.

There is a $10 charge associated with participating in Marching Colonel for a Day. That charge can be paid here.
